Many things have altered after Myanmar's February 2021 coup, along with the dissolution of its ten-year-old election institutions. Thousands of people were displaced as a result of the recurrence of armed battles between the security forces of juntas and ethnic revolutionary organizations (EROs), which prompted their migration to Thailand, a neighboring country. A freelance photojournalist named Zin Koko visited the border regions close to Mae Sot with other freelance journalists to document the sufferings of the displaced community. Their images were then shown as part of the "Endless Escape: Fleeing Myanmar to Thailand" photo exhibition at SEA Junction in October.
We are permitted to retain and show these images as a part of our database for migration in Southeast Asia and beyond thanks to the kind permission of Zin Koko.
